The Commision has a great record of helping to add properties to the National Register. For a small town it has one of the largest lists for Berkshire County.

Among those listed are the "Nichols-Sterner House" on Swamp Road, "Goodwood" on Summit Road, "Shaker Farm", "Still Meadows", Daniel Hand, Edward and Faith Andrews on Dublin Road, Richmond Iron Works District, Furnace Base and walls, many structures and houses related to the Furnace, including the Cone Hill Cemetery, and the Old Town Dump, which are on State Road, Furnace Road, Furnace Road Ext., Cone Hill Road, "Kenmore House", Henry Sherrill, Scaduto on State Road, "Northeast District School" on Summit Road.

The town Historical Commission basically is here to protect the historical assets. We are working on up-dating the historical inventories which were stated in the 1970's. Some of the dates and facts are incorrect, and new information needs to be added. The state asks that any structure, site and/or object over 50 years be listed in this inventory.
